About Standard Deviation
We are a FIRST FTC team dedicated to improving ourselves and our community through outreach, STEM learning, and inspiring younger students to explore robotics and engineering.
We also uphold Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition as the core values behind how we compete and collaborate.
History
Our Journey
Team Founded During COVID-19
Standard Deviation was founded by three juniors and a parent mentor at the International School of Minnesota.
Team Revitalization
Original members graduated, and Roshan and Coach Erik rebuilt and revitalized the team.
Team Expansion
Three new members joined, growing the team to six students and strengthening continuity for future seasons.

Standard Deviation is a team of students from the International School of Minnesota in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
Roshan
CAD, Build
Grade 11
A junior at the International School of Minnesota. This is his fifth year in FTC, and he is a former Catlateral Damage member. Roshan works across CAD and building. He enjoys swimming, and his favorite subject is math.
Ryan
Building & Driver
Grade 12
A senior at the International School of Minnesota. This is his fourth year in FTC. Ryan works across building and driving. He enjoys music, and his favorite subject is biology.
Asif
Build
Grade 11
A junior at the International School of Minnesota. This is his first year in FTC. Asif focuses on building, enjoys badminton, and his favorite subject is math.
Ean
Build
Grade 11
A junior at the International School of Minnesota. Ean focuses on building, and he enjoys volleyball and tennis.
Alex
Build
Grade 11
A junior at the International School of Minnesota. Alex focuses on building and enjoys sports, physics, and math.
Mentors
Erik
Lead Mentor
Coach Erik is in his second year with FTC. He joined because his children enjoy building LEGO robots. Professionally, he is an engineer at Amazon and prefers coaching robotics teams.
Activities
What We Do
Build Season
During build season, we design, build, and program a competition robot in just a few weeks. This intense period teaches us project management, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Competition Season
We compete at local league meets, qualifiers, and championships. These events are not just about winning - they're about learning, collaborating with other teams, and having fun.
Outreach
We're committed to giving back to our community. We host STEM workshops, mentor younger teams, and demonstrate robotics at local events to inspire the next generation of engineers.
